A place to call home….

Kia Ora!

Last month Phil and I took a massive step and packed up our gorgeous Cotswold cottage in the UK, quit our jobs and flew to the other side of the world….again. We are back in New Zealand! This is our second time in New Zealand and we couldn’t be happier to be back. As we walked through immigration with giddy excitement that we were back, we felt instantly at home. The sensation of familiarity mixed with change has paved the way for what’s to come. Our first day walking down Queen St, wandering the streets of Parnell and spotting the epic volcanoes has enlightened us to feelings of excitement and wonder. Mainly wondering why did we not do this sooner?!

Being back at home in the UK was wonderful-spending time with loved ones, eating cream teas, weddings, weddings and more weddings, pub lunches, country walks and delighting in the gorgeous English Countryside. BUT there is nothing like the feeling that you have made the right decision. Our main reason for wanting to pack up and swan off to the Southern Hemisphere was to improve our quality of life! Simple right?!

This is something that we get asked a lot- is it really that simple? The answer is yes! Absolutely! If you want something bad enough you just have to go out there and get it! It might not be easy but the answer is simple! Are you happy with how your life is right now, because time will not wait for anyone and if you want to change something, then now is your time! We ended up working long hours, never being able to spend quality time together and finding it difficult to make most of our surroundings in spite of living in an absolutely amazing 18th Century Grade ii listed cottage. This purely was not enough.

So here we are 3 weeks in to this journey- enjoying snowboarding one weekend, surfing the next, working far less hours and actually being able to enjoy life….together! Watch this space for more inspiring travel talk and photographic updates on our adventure in the land of the long white cloud!

Please feel free to leave comments and tell me about your travel experiences or if you want advice I will get back to you
